Page 2 – Practical Application & Mindset Shift
How Self-Talk Shapes Outcomes
| Situation | Negative Self-Talk | Constructive Self-Talk |
|---|---|---|
| Exam | “I will fail” | “I will do my best” |
| New Task | “I can’t do this” | “I can learn this” |
| Failure | “I am not capable” | “I will improve” |
Same situation… different thinking… completely different results.
How to Change Your Self-Talk
1. Notice Your Thoughts
The first step is awareness. Pay attention to the thoughts that repeat in your mind.
When you hear “I can’t”… pause and observe it.
2. Interrupt the Pattern
Do not let negative thoughts run automatically. Question them:
- Is this thought true?
- Is it helping me?
3. Replace with a Useful Thought
Shift from negative to constructive thinking.
- “I can’t do this” → “I can learn this step by step”
- “I will fail” → “I will try and improve”
Daily Micro Practice
Morning (2 minutes)
Start your day with one strong sentence:
- “I am improving every day”
- “I am capable of learning”
During the Day
When a negative thought appears:
- Notice it
- Pause
- Replace it
Night
Reflect on how your thoughts influenced your actions today.
Simple Truth
The way you speak to yourself either moves you forward or holds you back.
