RECAP (Part–v) : Time Management in Exam Hall (With Examples)
Time management is the hidden rank-maker. Many students know concepts but lose marks due to poor time decisions. This section teaches how toppers use time intelligently.
Rule–1 : First Scan the Paper (2–3 Minutes)
Example:
In JEE Main, scan all questions once without solving.
Mark: Easy ✔ | Medium ⚠ | Tough ✖
Topper Move: They don’t start solving immediately.
Rule–2 : Solve Easy Questions First
Example:
Direct F = ma, unit conversions, basic friction questions.
Why: Builds confidence + secures guaranteed marks.
Rule–3 : Set a Time Limit Per Question
If a question takes more than:
- JEE Main: 2 minutes
- JEE Advanced: 4–5 minutes
→ Skip and return later.
Topper Habit: They don’t emotionally attach to a question.
Rule–4 : Don’t Get Stuck in Algebra
Example:
Correct physics but messy calculations.
Stop → rethink method → maybe system approach.
Golden Exam Strategy
- Round 1: Easy questions
- Round 2: Medium questions
- Round 3: Tough / lengthy questions
Time management = Rank management.
