Rotational Motion – Phase 3 (Page 3)
Time Management • Pressure Control • Topper Execution
This page explains HOW toppers behave inside the exam hall. Physics knowledge alone is not enough — execution decides rank.
1️⃣ The 3-Layer Question Classification (Topper Method)
Within first 20 seconds, classify every rotational question into:
✔ Layer A: Direct / familiar → Solve immediately
✔ Layer B: Thinkable / multi-step → Mark & return
✔ Layer C: Dangerous / time-sink → Skip initially
Golden Rule: Never start with Layer-C questions.
2️⃣ Time Allocation Rule (Rotational Motion)
Average topper allocation:
• Objective question → 90–120 seconds max
• If stuck beyond 2 minutes → MOVE ON
Reality: One question is NOT worth 3 others.
3️⃣ Pressure Handling When You Feel Blank
Blank mind = temporary overload, not lack of knowledge.
Topper response:
✔ Stop calculation
✔ Re-read question slowly
✔ Ask: “What is conserved?”
Reset Trick: Close eyes for 3 seconds → restart calmly.
4️⃣ Elimination Strategy Under Time Pressure
When full solution seems long:
✔ Check units
✔ Check extreme cases
✔ Check zero / infinity logic
Fact: Many IIT questions are designed for elimination.
5️⃣ The “ONE MISTAKE RULE”
If you make one silly mistake:
❌ Do NOT panic ❌ Do NOT rush next question
✔ Slow down
✔ Re-establish rhythm
✔ Solve an easy question next
Topper Insight: Panic causes more damage than wrong answers.
6️⃣ Order of Attempt (Highly Recommended)
For Physics paper:
1️⃣ Mechanics (strong area)
2️⃣ Modern + Optics
3️⃣ Electromagnetism
4️⃣ Weak or lengthy sections
Why? Early confidence boosts accuracy.
7️⃣ When to Skip a Rotational Question
Skip immediately if:
❌ Axis unclear
❌ Too many unknowns
❌ Requires long algebra
❌ Confidence < 60%
Truth: Skipping is a skill, not weakness.
EXAM-HALL MENTAL ERRORS
❌ “I must solve this” ego
❌ Comparing with others
❌ Watching the clock repeatedly
❌ Revisiting solved questions unnecessarily
TOPPER SELF-TALK (VERY IMPORTANT)
✔ “I control the paper”
✔ “Accuracy over attempt”
✔ “Each question is independent”
✔ “Calm mind = correct physics”
